Why we have to stand up for ourselves

Hey, since time immemorial man has always made progress for the most part in standing up for himself. I mean just look at history and you will catch my drift. But for those who are still quite not there here is what I mean. From history, there is more evidence than I could gather and put in this blog but, to illustrate my point I will use the colonialism example.

Colonialism could only go as far as those being colonized could take it. Colonized citizens realized enough is enough and they had to do something and the rest as they say is history. Now back to my point, I think there can be no progress whatsoever if we can not stand up for ourselves, and just to illustrate take a look at tyrannical Nations, communities, or governments.

Progress as I have come to see is not something we wait for it is something we go for. All waiting can do is put more idleness in the world anyway. In other words, progress will never happen until we go for it. It sounds like a cliche but to be fair rarely do we stand up for ourselves. Most of the time we are confused about standing up for ourselves for being rude, or unappreciative.

For instance, talk about a service that is supposed to be offered to you, and rightly so, and yet when it is offered with the notion that it's a privilege rather than a service we tend to concur and accept a poor service offered. I mean this only goes to show how low we can go if we just continue to accept mediocrity.

There is a quote I read that goes "You may not control all the events that happen to you but you can decide not to be reduced by them."  Everyone is going through something but all of us can agree we can decide no, enough is enough, and not let it reduce to the same facade.

My hope is you gather enough courage to stand up for yourself and then stand up for somebody else. Because even if we do not we become accomplices to mediocrity and all the vile things you can think of.

Dare

The greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The people who risk nothing, do nothing, have nothing, are nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, and live. Chained by their attitudes they are slaves; they have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free. People, who risk may go through things that seem self-inflicting you know someone looking from the outside so to speak might ask what in the world is this guy thinking? why go through all that? why try you know how difficult it is? These are the people who don't risk anything thinking it's the best decision in the short term but in the long run, those who have risked are the ones who enjoy life, feel, change, find their path, grow, and live fulfilling lives. Just like a plant that is in a cocooned place will always look dull unlike a plant that faces all the elements, is usually more vibrant. Here is my point always try, risk, feel, love, and don't ...
