My Story: Battling Self-doubt to Making Money Writing

My name is Olly, and this is my blog

I started this blog around 2019 just after college and I didn't even know what blogging was all about, all I had was something to post. I had finished college and I had a hobby of writing which I thought no one gave 2 cents about. Ooh, how I was wrong.

I went on to start as a freelance writer and I can say I have seen fairly much success on this journey. But it was not all rosy at the beginning in fact I think I have only seen a piece of the pie.

The blog has served me well even though it does not pay me directly through monetization it has paid me indirectly. For instance, After becoming a freelancer on Fiver a client wanted to see some of my writing and I referred her to this blog guess what? I got the gig.

This is how it went

So in 2019 I launched the site and shared my first post and shared it on my socials I think it was around 250 words, more like one paragraph, don't laugh. So the close friends were encouraging but no one paid attention and I can say fairly so.

On the other hand, I had just finished college and I was looking for a job, a 9-5 because it was something I had gone to college for. In my country unfortunately corruption has been industrialized and normalized I was in for some shock. Being an optimistic person I braced myself.

By 2020 I had moved between two cities and finally found someone in my industry with whom we could work together or so I thought. We started a startup but 1 year in it was back to square 1. In hindsight, though it taught me a lot key among those lessons is patience(more of this in my YouTube channel follow😉)

At this time I was writing on the side and it was when our startup was slacking that I got paid my first dollar. Everything changed from that day, It was $200 but boy! you should have seen me I was over the moon.

So long story short my writing ended u paying my bills over time, I chose to focus on writing and I can not complain, So Ollys' blog is about those individuals who want to not only make it as writers but also in life. If you are one of these individuals consider following this blog and my socials Facebook, X(formerly Twitter), and YouTube as we grow together.

Dare

The greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The people who risk nothing, do nothing, have nothing, are nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, and live. Chained by their attitudes they are slaves; they have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free. People, who risk may go through things that seem self-inflicting you know someone looking from the outside so to speak might ask what in the world is this guy thinking? why go through all that? why try you know how difficult it is? These are the people who don't risk anything thinking it's the best decision in the short term but in the long run, those who have risked are the ones who enjoy life, feel, change, find their path, grow, and live fulfilling lives. Just like a plant that is in a cocooned place will always look dull unlike a plant that faces all the elements, is usually more vibrant. Here is my point always try, risk, feel, love, and don't ...

How to know, you are doing the right thing for you

Hey, have you ever thought that the reason you are struggling with certain things in your life is because of something else other than you? Maybe how you are brought up affected how you view relationships, how you were treated in certain situations has made you change the way you view things, maybe a breakup made you declare there is no love out there, and so forth. I am sure almost every one of us has. Surely what any of us has gone through affects how we view and define these "things" in our life. Talk of relationships, money, and life in general. I mean it is only natural, We are wired the way our brains are created to be for us, to protect us, and thus if anything happens against what is expected it is a cause of alarm. In other words, if for instance what you have done before failed, it's only natural that when you have a chance to do the same endeavor you become alerted and you end up hesitating to do it, or not doing it at all. These "things" that do hap...

The pandemic lessons and why they will always happen

Hey, surely pandemics have always been with us right?, and as I should also say they are going to be with us. Let us face it there is another virus somewhere waiting to happen and I don't mean to scare anyone but to show what is actually reality. To be honest with ourselves the pandemics that do happen or will happen are usually 99% our faults caused by our negligence, carelessness, and so forth but also through good intentions like trying to experiment with a bunch of drugs to find a better one. Anyway, it should not be an excuse, as pandemics bring all the negative things that we all know yet funny enough through pandemics man has come out more capable and better with a drug to kill that virus and keep the virus in its place so to speak. But as much as pandemics come packed with all the negative stuff we should not forget all the good they come with. what do I mean you ask? pandemics come with their fair share of good talk the Covid 19 pandemic for instance I would say has come ...
